New project · Teacher development
A stronger start
for every reader.
Practical reading pedagogy for teachers supporting learners who find reading difficult. Build understanding, adapt classroom practice and make room for progress at each learner’s pace.
The idea behind JUMP-Read
A learner who hesitates over a word needs more than a reminder to “try harder”. The teacher needs a way to understand what is getting in the way.
JUMP-Read is KaizenEd’s new teacher-training project focused on reading pedagogy for struggling readers. The emphasis is on what teachers can notice, explain, model and practise with learners—not on labelling a child by what they cannot yet do.
The project connects reading support with our wider work in teacher development and education consulting: preparing future teachers, strengthening inclusive education and bringing communication, collaboration and reflection into everyday teaching.

Training focus
A practical framework for discussion, demonstration and classroom planning. The detailed training scope is agreed with your institution.
Explore how spoken sounds connect with letters, and how teachers can make these links explicit through focused activities.
Break down word-reading tasks, model a manageable next step and plan practice that revisits what has already been taught.
Use appropriate connected text, oral language and discussion to bring accuracy, confidence and understanding together.
Consider pacing, accessible instructions, low-pressure participation and useful observations that help teachers adjust support.

Who it is for
Reading support works best when the adults around the learner have a shared language and a realistic plan.
For teachers looking to make reading instruction clearer and more responsive to different learning needs.
For teacher-preparation settings that want to connect the study of pedagogy with practical classroom decisions.
For teams planning a more consistent approach to reading support, teacher collaboration and classroom follow-through.
Planning a programme
Tell us about the learners, teaching team, language of instruction and the reading difficulties teachers are encountering.
Discuss the topics, participant group and practical priorities before confirming a format or schedule.
Identify classroom applications and opportunities for reflection so that professional learning stays connected to teaching.
A few useful answers
This KaizenEd project focuses on teacher training. It is intended to help educators strengthen reading pedagogy and classroom support for learners who find reading difficult.
The focus is on responding to reading difficulties in teaching practice, rather than requiring a diagnostic label before a teacher can offer support. This training is not a diagnostic assessment or a substitute for specialist advice where that is needed.
Please contact KaizenEd with your institution’s requirements and intended participant group. Programme scope, delivery arrangements, dates and fees should be confirmed directly with the team.
